Since 2000, the "Sport Switzerland" study, a representative survey on the characteristics of sport and physical activity as well as the structure and perception of Swiss sport, has been carried out four times (2000, 2008, 2014, 2020).

Details

The study "Sport Switzerland 2000" (n=2064) constituted the basis for a new study in 2008 (n=10262), that was aimed at furnishing new data on the characteristics of sport and physical activity in Switzerland. For 2014, the questionnaire was extended and split into a telephone (n=10652) and an online survey (n=7104). In 2020, respondents had the choice to answer the questions by telephone or by online questionnaire (n=12120).

The study populations for the first three surveys were Swiss residents aged between 15 and 74 years; in 2020 the study population were Swiss residents aged 15 year and older. Since the 2008 study additional samples of children aged between 10 and 14 years were interviewed with a special questionnaire.
